When we last spoke, I believe we were at the redneck wedding. It’s taken a while for me to be able to come back and write about this vacation for several reasons, not the least of which is that writing involves typing and typing involves fingers and I pretty much tried to cut one of mine off on said vacation. But that’s a story for another day.
Oh, the stories from this vacation.
But let’s go back to where we were. Saturday was the arrival followed by the wedding, and then we woke up Sunday for our first full day at the beach. It was sunny and beautiful – and, if you’re interested, it really was beautiful. We saw small tarballs each day, but they were cleaned up quickly and the water was great. At the end of the day, Bryan and the boys fired up the grill and my girl went down to the surf and it was all so perfect that I had to grab the camera.
I’m not sure but I think there might have been some kind of dance party going on down there.
This is the view looking one way, and this is the view looking the other way:
And this is the view of dinner.
This is when I’m really glad I have this camera, and that occasionally I grab it at the right time. Because even though some of these pics are a little shaky – because really, it was just a teeny bit too dark – I am so glad to have them now, so that I can remember…
…that she is still as entranced by the waves as she always was. As I always am.
…that it just grew more beautiful as the sun went down. That possibly, my son is picking up a tarball here.
I take some version of the picture below every year. I never get tired of it, and so far, she hasn’t either.
We sign our names in the sand.
And the sun goes down on a fantastic first day.
About the rest of the week? We’ll come back to that soon…

Love it. So glad you guys had a good time.
That looks like it was a beautiful, relaxing vacation (minus the cutting off of the finger!)
Those are some beautiful pictures. So glad you guys had such a great family vacation and sorry that you cut your finger. I enjoyed reading the Twitter updates. And I really did want a bandage on my middle finger so that I would have an excuse for using it whenever I wanted.
That girl on the beach captured my heart. Because that is me, and I hope someday that is each of my baby girls.
Precious memory building, Jones family. Even the attemped digit removal!
Gorgeous!! LOVE that girl on that beach. She’s so lovely!
It cracks me up to see him in that hat, on his iPhone, next to kabobs. I swear we must have common ancestry.
I think that is a DISTINCT possibility…
